Tyler Read Brings Back
The ‘Rock’ and the ‘Roll’
Tyler Read has been playing together ever since the heated summer of 2003 in their hometown of Shreveport, Louisiana. No one in the band is actually named Tyler Read, but they came up with it from Josh Johnson’s (lead singer) and Jordan Johnson’s (drums) cousin whose name is Tyler Read, because they “liked him”.
These boys have created a southern rock sound that is intermingled with their individual personalities and their rock-n-roll roots of which they thrive from. They truly live to ‘rock-n-roll’ after releasing their debut album, “Only Rock and Roll Can Save Us” on April 17, with hit songs “Intentions”, “The Killer”, and “Michael Jackson”.
They quickly gained some fame across the U.S. while touring around with such bands as Pillar, Showbread, June, This Providence, Sullivan, Park, and even Metallica. They also had an opportunity to open up for Fall Out Boy, which sparked some interest from a number of record labels around the U.S. They finally ended up signing to Immortal Records later in 2006. Immortal Records has brought out artists such as Rage Against the Machine, Velvet Revolver, Cypress Hill, Kanye West, and House of Pain. You may also know some of their label-mates Waking Ashland, Brazil, Hot Rod Circuit, and local bands Scary Kids Scaring Kids and A Change of Pace.
When interviewing Josh Johnson, I found that he and the rest of the band are really focused in getting the message across that they love the type of music that they play and want their fans to see that they want to bring back this rock-n-roll revolution. When asked what should fans expect when they purchase the new album, Josh replied, “A white hot rock-and-roll explosion!”
He said that they are all pretty excited about the coming year with the release of their new album and an upcoming tour which should start soon. The boys have been working so hard to put out this album and are ready to show the world what they are made of. Josh’s final words for everyone were, “Please, please, please go out and pick up the album because we’re very, very broke and hope to get another #3 combo at Taco Bell!”
