Before There Was You
Before I was with you,
I was so alone.
But you came and changed that-
You wrote me a love song.
Our relationship began,
And our love seemed to grow.
The time lasted forever;
I thought it would never get old.
But it wasn’t for long,
Until SHE appeared.
SHE took you away from me…
SHE created my biggest fear.
Slowly but surely,
SHE took you from my grip.
And little did I know,
My heart would become ripped.
Then I began to lose you,
And the anger kicked in.
I hated her so much,
I didn’t know where to begin.
You were pulled farther and farther,
Out of my sight.
Then suddenly, you were gone:
You were out of my life.
Now I walk the hallways of our school,
And I see you every day.
“You used to be mine,” I think to myself.
“Well… You were until SHE took you away.”
I’m tired of the loneliness,
I’m tired of the cold.
I’m tired of feeling,
As though I have no soul.
You were everything to me,
I thought I was that to you.
But you’ve proven me wrong,
From the things that you do.
I thought that you loved me,
But you are just like HER.
So don’t even bother-
Don’t say a word.
Why did you do this?
What did I ever see?
Clearly I wasn’t thinking,
We were never meant to be.
We thought about forever,
We talked about love,
And just like that it ended,
Like a bullet in the heart of a dove.
Now you just walk past me,
You ignore me at all costs.
I thought you were at least my friend,
Until you told me to get lost.
Why did you go?
You promised me forever.
But now I know you’re just like HER-
You are absolutely no better.
I would have stayed for you,
I thought you’d do the same.
Oh, how I was silly.
Love is just a game.
