Emma Rose Evans Interview

Emma Rose Evans Evening rolls around. After a long day at work, you sit down and flip on the evening news. Once again, you get to see Hollywood’s corrupted youth. Shutting off the television, you saunter into your room, donning on the decline of society. But wait; there are still a lot of young celebrities out there who are proven role models. One, who hasn’t yet become a household name but certainly isn’t far from it, is Emma Rose Evans. The twenty-one year old actress and model has stuck to her morals, even with the pressures that come with her career choice. Not only is she an entertainer, but she has broadened her horizons as a photographer and a writer. Just recently, she launched the first edition of her online magazine, Elephant. And this winter, she hopes to start her own clothing line. The sky is the limit for Miss Evans, and she’s not afraid to push the limit on her path to put her name in lights. Just the other day, Emma Rose Evans20took the time to answer some questions, giving us the chance to see inside the mind of an aspiring actress.

When did you decide you wanted to be an actress?
Around 2004/2005. I was kind of going through a phase where I wanted to be a movie director before then, then I slowly transitioned to wanting to do more film acting, however I'm really interested in acting, directing, producing etc. Basically anything that revolves around a movie set or the film industry I'd like to give it a try at least once.

When did you start acting?
I started acting "officially" when I was four years old, so 1991. I was doing the small church plays around Christmas time that most churches do for the kids, It was kind of what parents did you know? Dress their little kids up and send them on stage. I didn't start liking acting until I started doing film work in 1999 after I was offered a role in a national commercial.

What is your favorite production t o date?
It varies by subject. I loved playing the character Diana, the pothead groupie because she reminds me a lot of myself. I'm not a pothead or a groupie, but I hang out with a lot of musicians and go to a lot of shows. So I loved that character most. But my favorite story hasn't actually even been filmed yet. I guess its a drag to say you like your own work, but I love the story I wrote for the script, Scandals, Lies, Hollywood it’s just got so much going on, I really want to put my all into that movie if I can.

What has the experience been like as a whole?
The experience has gotten a bit crazier everyday, one day you get your first role in a film and you’re excited about it, then you go on set for the first time and you’re excited about that as well. But in the long run, it’s weird to think that a few years ago I was trying to just make it in the business and now, even though I haven't made it far, I have gotten some success and I'm being invited to events I'm meeting celebrities and it’s just like "Wow! I can't believe I'm making it!"

What are you currently working on? (Whether it be acting, modeling, photog., etc.)
I've found for me, that staying focused on one thing for too long isn't good for me. In 2006, I got three roles and spent my time acting, then in 2007, I did nothing but modeling the entire year and this year I haven't had ANY modeling jobs at all yet, I've done I believe 2 films and 2 shorts. I just finished filming them all this summer, now I'm bored and want to try more roles as soon as I can. Other than acting and modeling, this year for me, I've been working on getting my degree in Digital Media, so if acting doesn't work out, I want to work for Blender Magazine as a band photographer/journalist (I have big dreams). I also do freelance web, graphic and print designing. But what I'm MOST excited about is my clothing line. I know a lot of people have been looking at me weird, like "What's this girl doing with a clothing line?" but I still live by the same motto, "You only live once," so try everything while you can. It's called I'm A Jerk Industries http://www.imajerkindustries.com) and it should launch this Winter.

If you weren't an actress, what would you be?
Definitely, a photographer. I'm interested in music more than fashion honestly. So Blender Magazine20would be a good place for me.

Describe yourself in five words or less.
Demanding, Loud, Shy, Quiet, LOVING.

What do you want to do next?
Acting wise, I really want to play every character out there, I want to try everything from comedy to drama, to horror to romance. I'd also love to do some music videos that's what I'm into right now, music videos, just looking for the right one. Other than that, I really am just looking forward to I'm A Jerk launching and of course November 4, 2008 when FOB returns

Any advice for aspiring actors?
Remember that you'll never land your first few auditions. It takes years to get anything done in this business, so don't give up too soon. Usually when people give up, their NEXT audition was the one they were going to get. Also, don't depend on other people, I've learned that the more you depend on others, the less things you'll get done, it'll take a lot longer and lastly, ALWAYS remember to be yourself, don't do something just because "it'll make you famous" or because you want the role, or definately not for the money either. I just turned down a 50,000 lead because I wasn't comfortable showing my butt on camera. Set your limits and don't bend them for anyone.

Are there any common misconceptions towards this career?
There are more than I can name, mostly the one of the fame, money and all the glory. A lot of aspiring actors think with one role, they will have=2 0it all; it definitely does not work like that. Also from my parents I learned that most people think everyone in Hollywood is "brain-dead" but a lot of Hollywood actors, like Tom Hanks, have degrees. One last thing, don't judge a person until you know them. I hate seeing celebrities get bashed by people and you ask them if they have ever met them and they reply with "Well, no, but Becky said that David said he heard from Mrs. Applebaum that..." Gossip hurts and isn't nice.
