Danielle Hanratty
School, activities, sports, and friends usually consume the life of a typical teenager. However, sixteen-year-old Danielle Hanratty is different than the average teenager. Other than being an overachieving student and highly involved in extracurricular activities, Danielle is a star on the popular CBS show, “The Unit” and routinely flies back and forth to California to film the show. Danielle has been playing the character of a girl named Lissy Gernhardt for the past three years.
Danielle first began her career in acting because of her sister Sammi. Sammi was always saying, “I want to be on TV”, or “I want to be on the stage”, urging their mom to send pictures of them to an agent in California. Since then, acting has become a huge part of their lives. Her greatest inspiration has been her mom. “She strengthens me and pushes me towards greatness, or whatever my goals are, and its nice to have someone encourage me so much,” says Danielle.
Danielle manages to keep a low profile of her glamorous life in California by remaining down to earth. She doesn’t tell many people about her role on the show, “I tend to keep it to myself. I don’t want to be a show-off or have people like me just because I act”. Only her close friends know about her job and they are the ones she loves hanging out with. Danielle also enjoys reading, listening to music, and dancing in her spare time.
Will we see Danielle winning an Oscar down the road? “I like being an actress, bur right now my heart is set on being a veterinarian.” Danielle hopes to attend CalPoly in San Luis Obispo. As for now, Danielle will continue to play Lissy Gernhardt, as well as what she does best: just being a normal teenage girl. To see more of Danielle, tune into CBS on Tuesday nights.
